Our Story
The Inspiration
I found out that our son, Owen, had Hydrocephalus when I was 20 weeks pregnant. It was a lot to absorb,
but with the abundance of information on the internet and the wonderful doctors we met we were very well
informed. Owen was born in December 2007 and was transferred to St. Louis Children's Hospital to have
a surgery that would place a shunt in his head. Once he was in recovery he had a lot of obstacles to
overcome. One of those was keeping his body temperature up. Having a hat helped him do that.

The Volunteers
Once we decided there was a great need for these hats, we were on a mission. We found a pattern and
started making hats. Several family members heard about our idea and wanted to help. Some bought
fabric and some made hats.
